"I came to treatment for stress related anxiety and generally feeling 'out of sorts'. After my first session with Richard I felt considerably more grounded than I had for a long time, had the best night's sleep in months and woke headache-free. The feelings of dread that were familiar had also lessened. This continued with treatment and I now see Richard when I feel in need of a general tune-up!"

"I can only say that I am stunned by the results provided by Richard which have been life changing. I approached Richard in a somewhat desperate
state having suffered for some time with anxiety related hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). My condition lost me business and social ability. Thank you Richard, even after my second session I noticed improvements in my condition and will not hesitate to recommend you to others."

Acupuncture originated around 3000 years ago. It is based on the belief that the human body is controlled by a vital life force called Qi (pron. 'chee'). Qi flows between the organs of the body along pathways called meridians or channels. Fine needles are inserted along these pathways in order to redirect the flow of Qi in the most appropriate manner.   In treating a patient, the acupuncturist first identifies the root cause of the problem, then addresses it in an holistic manner. In many cases there will be a direct path to a physical symptom, but it is often as important to explore the emotional and spiritual factors underlying the problem.

Acupuncture can be an effective treatment for many conditions including hypertension, hay fever, irritable bowel syndrome, asthma, headaches, back pain and excessive sweating. It can also help with a range of gynaecological problems such as PMS, bloating and period pain. Acupuncture can both cure and prevent illness and it is often worth considering as a detox treatment in the spring or a boost to your immune system in winter.  Acupuncture can also simply support you during times of stress.

Acupuncture is as individual as we are, so the number of sessions required will vary. On average a course of treatment consists of 6 to 10 sessions of 30-45 minutes. The first session is usually spent taking a case history, diagnosing the problem and its causes and then discussing a treatment plan.
